When the Chernobyl nuclear power station exploded 25 years ago, authorities encased the damaged reactor in a massive stone coffin to halt the release of further radiation. But the concrete and steel stucture, known as a sarcophagus, is so badly damaged that officials want to build a new hi-tech seal. @NegativeNumbers427 Ah, then you have not read todays news? Chernobyl is to be put on wheels and sent to Creusot for Areva to strip down for scrap. TEPCO are hoping to build some big barges and ship the Fukushima plant there as well, just as soon as it stops burning. Now i just cant seem to locate the link to that news item.

But the sad truth is that even if Russia pays up, the money will once again come out of the pockets of the general public who are struggling as it is, not the oligarchy. The extent of corruption in Russia is unbelievable. Passing this bill to the indigent is probably not the kindest way to go about it. This is the world with its corruption for you – no truth, no justice…but thank God there’s still mercy, such as international community has shown to Ukraine.

@VeryResurrection Russia pays its own bills by passing the bill to everyone else. Russia needs to be brought to heel, by having its nuclear power plant exports banned by the IAEA, until Russia pays for the cleanup for the ones it left behind.

@charlessmyth Well, Russian corruption and oligarchy is a whole different story, my friend. Legally Russia is not liable for any expenses that occur in the other 14 former Soviet republics which are now fully independent countries. Freedom comes with a price.. you have to pay your own bills.

Russia was the very recently, former colonial power, and is liable for the problems that it created directly and/or indirectly, as the Russian foreign ministry and/or ministry of propaganda which includes RT, spends 24/7 berating the likes of the UK and the US, etc. Yet, Russia and its multi-billionaire oligarchy pleads poverty and passes the buck to everyone else. Why is the international community subsidising Russia that has committed $500-million to annexe South Ossetia and Abkhazia, when it should be Russia that is paying for this sarcophagus to contain the damage of one of its reactors. This is similar to the UK giving money to Pakistan to build schools etc, but is, in effect, subsidising Pakistan’s nuclear weapons and ballistic missile programme, that is bigger than that of the UK or France.

Apple now has Rhapsody as an app, which is a great start, but it is currently hampered by the inability to store locally on your iPod, and has a dismal 64kbps bit rate. If this changes, then it will somewhat negate this advantage for the Zune, but the 10 songs per month will still be a big plus in Zune Pass’ favor.

Hands down, Apple’s app store wins by a mile. It’s a huge selection of all sorts of apps vs a rather sad selection of a handful for Zune. Microsoft has plans, especially in the realm of games, but I’m not sure I’d want to bet on the future if this aspect is important to you. The iPod is a much better choice in that case.

I’ll gear this review to 2 types of people: current Zune owners who are considering an upgrade, and people trying to decide between a Zune and an iPod. (There are other players worth considering out there, like the Sony Walkman X, but I hope this gives you enough info to make an informed decision of the Zune vs players other than the iPod line as well.)

The new Zune browser is surprisingly good, but not as good as the iPod’s. It works well, but isn’t as fast as Safari, and has a clunkier interface. If you occasionally plan on using the web browser that’s not an issue, but if you’re planning to browse the web alot from your PMP then the iPod’s larger screen and better browser may be important.
